Botox and Facial Fillers
When treated with Botox, a tiny amount of the product is injected into one or more of the dozens of muscles that control facial expression. The botox works to relax the muscle by blocking the nerve impulse from reaching that specific area, causing the muscle to relax and the wrinkle to fade. Over time the treated muscles can “learn” not to make the facial expression that caused the wrinkle, resulting in long lasting effect. Usually, the first Botox treatment lasts between 3 to 4 months at which time another injection is done. After several treatments the effects of Botox may begin to last longer.
Filler injections are a cosmetic procedure used to smooth wrinkles or pitted scars in the skin, usually on the face. They are also used to make the lips fuller. When injected under the skin, a filler raises or puffs up that area. This usually goes away over time. Filler injections can give you a more youthful look for a fraction of what a traditional facelift costs. Most will fill lines and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from 4 months to more than a year.
